Things To Do
These are some of the activities that we have been specifically asked about. If there's anything you are
interested in that's not listed here, just ask! We have loads of local guide books and maps that are available
for guests to use, plus up to the minute information on what's on and where. Just ask!
Golf Club Details
There are a number of different types and styles of golf course, all within an hour of Sens sur Seille. Here are
just a few:
There is a private 9 hole approach course, situated just 15kms from us at Chapelle Voland (tel: 03 84 44 10 57).
You can hire equipment on site. The course is open all year round.
For something more challenging, situated just outside Lons le Saunier (about a 30 minute drive) is a par 72
championship course at the Domaine du Val de Sorne Golf Hotel (tel: 03 84 43 04 80). Green fees here range
from 29 euros to 47 euros, depending on the time of the year and the day of the week.
Just outside Chalon sur Saone is the Parc de Loisirs Saint-Nicolas which has a very good municipal course
which is an 18 hole par 71 course. For more information try their website on www.golf-chalon-sur-saone.com.
Fishing
There is a wide variety of fishing available in the area. You can catch Pike, Black Bass, Perch, Carp and
the famous Silurid on the rivers Seille, Doubs and the Saone. There are also a large number of well stocked
private ponds that offer day and night fishing.
Swimming
There is a swimming pool that is open from 2pm each day during the summer at Saint Germain du Bois, which is
approximately 10 minutes from Sens sur Seille.
Horse Riding
Situated at Bosjean, just 3 miles from us, is the Centre Hippique de La Cheneraie, a major equitation centre
run by the Vincent family. It hosts competitions and events throughout the whole year. You can enrole for
courses or lessons, or we can arrange for an early morning/evening hack.
Cycling
The Bresse countryside is gently rolling and is well suited to those who enjoy a gentle, not too taxing
promenade en bicyclette. For those with a little or a lot more energy, the Jura mountains are a relatively
short drive away, and offer a whole range of mountain bike type activities.
In the westerly direction lies the award winning "Voie Verte" or Green Way. This is a series of routes for
cycling, walking, horse riding or even roller blading, that runs across Saone et Loire. These routes are
generally easy riding but can cover long distances, and either follow the Saone river or wander through the
vineyards. The Voie Verte is completely traffic free, but there are a good number of carparks with information
and usually toilets, where you can leave the car and join the route.
If you don't want to bring your own bikes with you, we have a selection of bikes available for guests'
use, suitable for around age 11 upwards to adult. Or, there is a bicycle hire scheme at Louhans, based at the
Tourist Office, and their prices start from 9 euros for half a day.
We also have a bike rack for the car, which you may borrow!
